Positive Affect/Negative Affect Scale for Mexicans (PANA-M): Evidences of Validity and Reliability

The affective component of Subjective Well Being refers to the emotional evaluations people make regarding day-to-day life events. These responses can be categorized into two: Positive affect and Negative affect. usually indicate that is going well, everything as expected; negative indicates opposite. Despite immense number instruments scales currently exist around this topic, there’s still room for improvement psychometric properties. To minimize some recent challenges, a new Affect scale was developed instead adopting or adapting an existing one. Three independent studies use several techniques (Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Convergent validity, Cronbach’s Alpha, McDonald’s Omega, Tucker’s congruence coefficient) show adequate validity reliability final product, Affect/Negative Scale -originally Mexico-, shows properties even suggest proper functioning in Argentinian sample. Strengths are discussed relationship between positive/negative with other psychological variables well.
